The IAEL has undertaken to host this examination in its 2005 edition "Celebrity". We have assembled a fine group of authors from across the world, each well placed in the entertainment industry, to present their visions on various aspects of celebrity. More than 20 authors have taken up the discussion, which includes defining celebrity itself, examining its history and how it operates across the many media and industry segments, looking at the branding of celebrities, the influence of technology and how to protect the celebrity brand (and the privacy of their personal lives) while balancing the freedom of the press and expression. We also ask the question "Is Celebrity Global?" by casting the spotlight on a number of international territories, offering a snapshot of the developing law as it relates to celebrity in each.
